Scope and content: This series contains 189 cubic feet of military reports such as tri-monthly reports, general and special orders, casualties lists, death certificates, deserter lists, battle descriptions, equipment and clothing accounting reports, fiscal reports, and returns (which are similar to both muster rolls and rosters) for companies and regiments within the Kansas National Guard and Kansas Militia. The unit is composed of over 100 discrete sets of military reports, from both war and peacetime, each identified by a unique control number (e.g., #00434 is a Regimental Order Book, 1862-1864, for the 1st Regiment, Kansas Volunteers).
