Scope and content: Correspondence exchanged between the Adjutant General's Office (AGO) and the U.S. War Department, the Kansas Attorney General, and the military companies and regiments under the AGO's command in the Kansas Militia and the Kansas National Guard. The unit contains over 21 cubic feet of correspondence from the Civil War, Indian Wars, Spanish-American War, and both World Wars. It is composed of less than a dozen discrete sets of correspondence, each identified by a unique control number (e.g., #06863 contains correspondence exchanged with the 18th Kansas Volunteer Cavalry during the 1867 Indian Wars).
