Personal Property Statements

Scope and content: Volumes containing copies of State Commission of Revenue and taxation form 2-C documenting values of taxable property owned by Miami County residents. The forms are similar to modern income tax returns, are completed by the taxpayer and submitted to the Commission of Revenue and Taxation. They state the taxpayer name, address, number of family members, and lists all taxable personal property with monetary values. Property includes cars, household items, jewelry, guns, boats, and air conditioning and heating units. Earlier records include livestock, wagons, and other agricultural equipment. The records in range 059 contain dates 1895, 1900, and 1955 for Osage Township, Middle Creek Township, and Paola. The volumes are organized by date but there appears to be no order to the 2-C forms. Records in range 025 date 1915 for Osage, Valley, and Miami Townships, and 1920 for unnamed townships.
