School Registers

Scope and content: School registers and School District Treasurer's records arranged chronologically within school district number order (i.e., earlier boxes in series contain districts starting with district 1 and continue numerically to end with districts 69-70 and high schools in the final box). Each district's registers are grouped together (e.g., district 6, Pennel Park, has registers for 1881-1949; other districts will have registers for different time spans). Each register provides the following information for each student: name; grade; school last attended; date of birth; gender; a parent's name; residence; and grades per subject. Each class includes a daily schedule of subjects and activities. Each new school year's register includes the "Teacher's First Week's Report to County Superintendent" report of the teacher's name, contract dates, education and professional experience, and the teacher's assessments of the condition of the school's building and grounds, the number of students enrolled in each grade, and an inventory of school equipment.
