Abstract: Records kept by Thomas Dolgoff from his work with the Menninger Foundation. Topics include in-service training, use of audio-visual aids, site visits by various committees of the American Medical Association, and issues surrounding foreign-trained doctors working in U.S. mental health institutions. Types of records include agendas and meeting minutes, memoranda and correspondence, notes, sample evaluation forms, drafts and working copies with annotations/corrections of reports, final reports, policies, filled-in application forms, news clippings, etc.

Biography
Biog. Sketch (Full):
Thomas Dolgoff was born 23 February 1912 in New York, New York, receiving his degrees--bachelors in social science and masters in education--in the 1930s from the College of the City of the New York (CCNY). During the war, he served as a master sergeant in the United States Army, working with the military intelligence service in France. For a few months after the war he was a medical supply specialist with the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Service out of Washington, D.C., and from 1946-1952 he was an organization and methods examiner with the Veterans Administration Department of Medicine and Surgery.
In 1952, Dolgoff was hired by Lester Roach to work with the Menninger Foundation as an executive assistant and director of training in mental health administration. He held these positions until 1977, when he became senior consultant to management for the Will Menninger Center for Applied Behavioral Sciences.
Dolgoff was president of the National Association of Private Psychiatric Hospitals in 1981, and he was a fellow of the Association of Mental Hospital Administrators.
Thomas Dolgoff was married to Estelle and had two children, Robert and Diana. He died 13 September 1989.
