Scope and content: Typed 285-page manuscript of The Fragile Thread by Alice Roller (or Rover) Issler Ingram, including table of contents and a letter from Ms. Ingram to Dr. Karl Menninger. Autobiographical accounting of marrying and living with a severely mentally ill man, originally written in 1963, reworked and corrected in 1973 before Ms. Ingram turned the manuscript over to the Menninger Foundation. Pencil markings are the author's; inked comments are her ex-husband's (he never gave her permission to publish).
