Includes Carney's 1986 Master's thesis from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, "Karl A. Menninger's Psychoanalytic Odyssey, 1920-1950: Karl A. Menninger, Smith Ely Jelliffee, and the European Fringe Psychoanalysts," as well as an undated shorter article, "The Freudians Come to Kansas: Menninger, Freud, and the Emigre Psychoanalysts." The thesis is 150 pages typed double-spaced with an abstract, table of contents, preface, and acknowledgements; the shorter article is 32 pages double-spaced with a letter from an Irv on staff at the Menninger Foundation (apparently not Irving Sheffel) critiquing the article.
