Letters largely between Cay Wright Menninger family members, mostly but not necessarily written to and from Cay herself. These include her parents Eliza and Roy Wright, sisters Joanne and Dorothy, fiancee and later husband William Claire Menninger, sons Roy, Philip, and William Walter, grandchildren, and other extended family members such as aunts and uncles. Series also may include letters and cards from friends, professional acquaintances, and others.
Topics typically include family news, discussion of activities, advice, weather, foreign travel, work and volunteer activities, thanking Cay for gifts she gave her grandchildren, and other related topics. The letters range in date from Cay's teenage years to her courtship with Dr. Will to their separations during the 1930s and 1940s while he traveled and was at war to children and grandchildren giving Cay updates about their lives during the 1960s to 1980s.
