Scope and Content

Scope and content: Materials related to manuscripts and speeches written and given by C. F. Menninger. Consists of notes and cards for lectures, outlines, copies of complete articles and reprints, and other related materials. Topics are both medical and horticultural--though mostly medical--and include lectures given by Dr. Menninger while he was teaching, both before and after the Menninger Clinic opened; talks given to the Menninger Foundation board of governors and for Menninger Foundation events; and at other times. Medical topics include neurology, nutrition (particularly in regards to children), lectures given to nurses, psychiatry and psychology, arthritis, health insurance, diabetes, etc. There is also a typewritten transcription of 1884 diary entries C.F. kept (original volume with these entries can be found in his Professional series, 223158) while he was teaching in Holton and courting Flo Knisely, who later married him.
