Reference maps

Scope and content: Maps, primarily created by the State Highway Commission of Kansas and the Kansas Dept. of Transportation, drawn or kept for reference purposes. Most of the maps are single items or small sets. Many of the maps date from the 1970s and 1980s. Many may be duplicates of maps in other series or copies of maps printed by the agency. Some may be opaque masters created for duplication. The maps are of a wide variety of topics, usually transportation related, including routes of the Oregon & Santa Fe trails; federal-aid, state, & county highway systems; former routes of numbered highways; scenic & recreational highways; traffic count maps; freeways & expressways; aerial photographs; and maps illustrating proposed & completed highway improvement programs.
