Biographical sketch: Claude Ross, nephew of U. S. Senator Edmund G. Ross, died November 25, 1947. He was a farmer and raised livestock. After graduating from Emporia State Teachers College, Ross taught school in Alma and Mission Creek townships. He married Emma Moore of Alma and they had one son F. C. Ross and three daughters Mrs. H. M. Vars, Permwin, Pennsylvania; Mrs. R. S. (Helen) Hall, Westfield, New Jersey; and Mrs. J. Willard Harvey, Wilmington, Delaware. Claude Ross was active in helping locate a high school in Dover, treasurer of the Dover Telephone Company for 30 years, Justice of the Peace for 40 years, and a member of the Mission creek township board.
