The Dana Thorpe Jennings Papers chronicle the life of farmer and WWI soldier Dana Thorpe Jennings of Emporia, Kansas. The collection contains an autobiography of Jennings as well as various papers and printed materials from his life. Jennings describes growing up, everyday life, and his takes on the first and second World Wars as well as other moments in history.
Dana Thorpe Jennings was born on a family farm near of Lebo, Kansas on November 7th, 1887, to Thorp Buttolph Jennings and Eliza Virginia Hacker Jennings. D.T. Jennings was the last of four children and experienced both rural and urban life in Kansas until his passing November 5th, 1980. Dana himself had three children: Dorothy Louise, Helen Elizabeth, and Dana Close.
