Abstract: The collection consists of a John Deere Plow Company 1893-1894 catalogue that has copies of letters sent by Henry C. Ruppenthal and published in newspapers pasted into the volume. The published letters are all from 1898-1899, when Ruppenthal served in Company M, 20th Kansas Cavalry, during the Spanish-American War. The letters detail Ruppenthal's experiences in the Philippines. The collection also includes his diary from the same time, both the original and a photocopy. Henry was the brother of Jacob Christian Ruppenthal, both residents of Russell County, Kansas.
