Scope and content: A petition from citizens of Coffey County, Kansas, request Governor Harvey appoints Martin B. Hoover to the office of Sheriff. A letter from William A. Allison informs the Governor that the person selected as Sheriff of Coffey County was done so in fraud. Additional documents are concerning the recent passing of the Sheriff elected, John Chess. Many of the correspondent's requests the Governor fill the vacancy by appointing Martin B. Hoover as the Sheriff for their county.
