Scope and content: The following documents pertain to rewards for the capture and conviction of criminals in the State of Kansas. This description does not cover all the documents in this file, only a few. A letter on October 26, 1877, from Missouri Governor J. S. Phelps, informs Kansas Governor Anthony that he has issued a second warrant under Anthony?s first requisition for the body of Schoenwaldt alias Henry Smith. A letter on June 10, 1878, J. W. Rector relating to the reward for the apprehension of John J. Shriner. A letter on September 16, 1878, from Kentucky Governor J. B. McCreary, suggests the reward for the capture of Tipton be divided between Sheafon and John Scott.
