C. Adams for the position. A resignation letter from Adam Kile as Justice of Peace of Osage Township, Bourbon County, Kansas, dated October 11, 1873. A petition from residents of Augusta Township, Butler County, states there is a vacancy in the office of Justice of Peace and recommend W. A. Sherman to fill the vacancy. A letter on April 10, 1874, from H. M. Fraizer, informs the Governor that many citizens of Highland Township, Clay Center County, desire R. D. McLard as Justice of the Peace.
