This information varies depending upon the year of assessment, with earlier assessments not including school and road taxes. Can be arranged by townships, cities, or a simple alphabetical listing of residents. Usually no index. These records can be divided differently in each office; some offices may have record series that separate city from township tax rolls; counties with large cities have tax rolls which divide the city geographically; there are also road tax rolls, corporation tax rolls, utility tax rolls, etc. The more broken up this series tends to be, the easier it is to locate a subject. This series is created from the information compiled in tax assessment rolls.
