Summary: Photo shows Rancho de Taos Mission near Taos New, Mexico, in earlier times, before the tree, and small shrine were added to the church yard. It has always been considered the most beautiful church in the southwest, was erected in 1778. The rerados, including the eight oil paintings, back of the altar, dates back to the founding of the church. The church is constructed of adobe, with walls many feet thick. The flat roof and huge slanting buttresses lend the church the appearance of a fortress.
