Biography
Biog. Sketch (Full):
William George Clugston was born in Kentucky in 1889 and attended Lexington schools before earning his law degree from the University of Kentucky. During his studies he worked as a campus correspondent for a couple Lexington newspapers and helped found the first student publication at the university.
In the 1910s, after failing to find a job in Kansas City, Clugston became sports editor for the Topeka State Journal. He also served as political reporter and city editor with this newspaper. In 1919 he began working for the Kansas City Post as the Kansas correspondent.
In the early 1940s Clugston stopped working full-time as a regular staff writer for any newspaper, instead focusing his time on writing books, plays, and magazine and newspaper articles. Clugston died in 1966.
