Ft. Riley - The Old Townsite of Pawnee and the First Territorial Capitol of Kansas - First Territorial Capitol State Historic Site
As we continue to celebrate America250, join the Riley County Historical Society & Museum at the
First Territorial Capital State Historic Site. Led by Mary Knapp, First Territorial Capitol site administrator, attendees will learn about the contentious beginnings of the state as early settlers debated whether Kansas would align itself with pro or anti-slavery ideologies prior to the Civil War. Following the presentation, attendees are invited to tour the museum on the ground floor. The event is free, but donations are always welcome. Refreshments will be served.
