Hays - Kansas Archeology Training Program Field School programs - Fort Hays State Historic Site

Site administrator Adam Conkey will provide an evening tour of historic Fort Hays. Established in 1865 in the land of the Cheyenne and Arapaho, the fort protected railroad workers and travelers on the Smoky Hill Trail. Its rich history includes familiar names of western history like Custer, Cody, Sheridan and Hickok. Fort Hays State Historic Site is located at 1472 U.S. 183 Alternate in Hays.
