Osawatomie - Freedom Festival - John Brown Museum
Come experience a part of Kansas history at Freedom Festival at John Brown Memorial Park in Osawatomie. Historic portrayals include Doug Dobbs as John Brown, Nathan Richardson as Frederick Douglass, and Steve Burns as Abraham Lincoln at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Native American educator and performer Dennis Rogers shares his culture and traditions as "Spirit Dancer" on Saturday at 3 p.m. Kerry Alterbernd will portray John Brown at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Mary Buster, a descendant of the Adairs and John Brown, will give tours of the Adair cabin and John Brown Museum on Saturday and Sunday. Visitors can also enjoy reenactments, live music, vendors, games, and more. The event is being hosted by John Brown Museum State Historic Site and the City of Osawatomie.
