Russell - Kansas Archeology Training Program Field School programs - Fossil Station Museum and The Avenue of History
Attendees will have the opportunity to visit two museums - Fossil Station Museum, 331 Kansas Street, Russell and The Avenue of History - Museum of Agriculture, Academics and Automobiles, 825 N. Kansas, Russell. Operated by the Russell County Historical Society, The Fossil Station Museum, built in 1907, was originally the county jail, the sheriff's office and living quarters. Rooms display educational settings of artifacts used or created by Russell County residents from the mid-1800's to the present. Just a two-minute drive up the street, The Avenue of History Museum features exhibits on early farming, transportation and education in the region. Exhibits showcase remarkable antique tractors and cars, highlighting a pivotal era in agricultural and automotive history.
