Topeka - Kansas Museum of History - Special Reopening

The Kansas Museum of History's special reopening event is today!

Join us for today for this reopening event with music, special guests, food trucks, and plenty of photo opportunities. Hear from VIP speakers including Lieutenant Governor David Toland; Patrick Zollner, KSHS executive director; Sarah Bell, museum director; KSHS Foundation representative; and Tribal representatives.

Enjoy music performances and roaming guests including Civil War reenactors and Wizard of Oz characters. 

Admission to the museum will be FREE both Saturday, November 22 and Sunday, November 23.

Event Schedule:

9 a.m. – Lobby doors open to the public
9:30 a.m. – Lawrence Children’s Choir performance, speeches from VIP speakers
10 a.m. – Ribbon cutting ceremony 
11 a.m. – Lem Sheppard music performance
1 p.m. – John Brown Boys music performance, Washburn mascot appearance
3 p.m. – Maria the Mexican music performance

Roaming guests include Dennis Rogers, Navajo educator; Stan Herd, muralist; KU and Washburn college mascots; Jim Sands, Buffalo Soldier reenactor; Civil War reenactors; and Wizard of Oz characters. For questions regarding this event, please contact kshs.education@ks.gov.
