first memorial recognizing contributions of Tribal veterans in the first World War. As a result of multiple community partnerships, the event became a huge four-day event held on the Haskell campus from October 27-30, 1926. More than just a Haskell event, many organizations, members of the community, and Tribes from throughout the nation came together in a show of solidarity and collaboration to celebrate this unique opportunity. All funds that built the Stadium and Archway were donated exclusively by 2,500 Tribal members. It is the third largest stadium in Kansas and the first lighted stadium in the Midwest, bringing night games to this portion of the country. Join us to learn more about this fascinating history presented by Jancita Warrington, former executive director of the Haskell Cultural Center & Museum. See rare pictures of this event and how the 1926 dedication put the state of Kansas on the national map. The museum will be open during this time from 5 to 8 p.m. and admission will be free. The program starts at 6:30. Light refreshments will be served.
