Spencer W. Finney

The son of Spencer W. and Erma Louise (Short) Finney, Spencer W. Finney was born January 20, 1931, in Chanute, Kansas. He married Joan Marie McInroy on July 24, 1957, in Topeka, Kansas. They had three children: Sarah “Sally” Finney Timm, Richard Finney, and Mary Finney Holladay. When she was elected 42nd governor Kansas, he became the first to serve as First Gentleman. From 1991 to 1995 he served in that capacity.
