Grand Army of the Republic Posts In Kansas
The Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) was a veterans organization for former Union Civil War soldiers founded in 1866, but primarily active in the 1880s and later. The G.A.R. Department of Kansas included all posts established in the state, as well as several in Indian Territory prior to Oklahoma's statehood. Some post numbers were re-used when the original post was dissolved.
