K0243667 General Maintenance and Repair Technician Senior State Posting | Position Description

This position is responsible for the maintenance of buildings, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems and other mechanical type repairs for the Kansas Historical Society Cedar Crest, Potawatomi Mission, and warehouse. The position also provides support services for other historic sites throughout the state. This employee provides the necessary services required for the daily operation of building and systems and is essential in the implementation of preventive maintenance practices that insure equipment dependability and longevity. The preservation and storage of historic artifacts has specific environmental needs, requiring special system designs and thus brings a high degree of expectations and responsibility to insure effective, efficient and reliable equipment operations. The starting wage will be $15.75/hr to $16.56/hr plus pay differential-building trades $.30/hour.

This position oversees the state historic sites and requires knowledge of professional historic sites practices, procedures, and techniques, a knowledge of American and Kansas history, knowledge of sources, methods, and techniques used in historical interpretation, and knowledge of the principles and practices of management and supervision. Responsibilities include recruitment and training of historic sites administrators and alternates, travel, and evaluating effective of staff members. K0079224 Custodial Specialist - | Position Description

This position provides a high level of cleaning in all areas of service and facility spaces. Some spaces would include public use areas such as restrooms, lobbies, break rooms, galleries, classrooms and hallways. Samples of some duties would include cleaning and disinfecting all surface areas, window and glass cleaning and all types of floor maintenance such as vacuuming, carpet cleaning, mopping, scrubbing and waxing. The position provides maintenance services for special events by setting up and taking down tables, chairs, partitions walls, stages and podiums. This position also provides general maintenance and repair services for the building structure such as walls, ceilings, floors and doors by performing plaster repair, painting, carpet and tile repair and installation, ceiling replacements and the repair of doors and hardware. The position will provide support for grounds work such as snow removal and lawn care, make equipment repair and provide support for many other special requests. Posted until filled.
