Kansas Day at the Museum

On January 29, 2026 Kansas will celebrate its 165th birthday! After five years, the Kansas Museum of History is hosting an in-person Kansas Day event for students and the general public. Enjoy live performances, hands-on demonstrations, make & take activities, and more! 

Admission to the Kansas Museum of History will be FREE on January 29th to celebrate the day.

Public transportation in Topeka

Topeka Metro provides transportation for class visits to the Kansas Museum of History.

Bus grants

The Kansas Museum of History and Kansas State Capitol have partnered with Freedom's Frontier National Heritage Area, which offers help with 75 percent of funding towards transportation costs.
