Kansas Town and Land Company

The Kansas Town and Land Company was chartered in 1887 to buy and sell lands on the right of way of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway Company.
This collection is comprised of approximately 70 linear feet of material, 10 oversized folders, and miscellaneous volumes and ledgers. Inclusive dates are 1885 to 1930. Major features of the collection are the E. W. Cline Correspondence files (1898-1916), Land Transaction Documents, and 90 volumes of Town Company Record Books. There is a subject guide (by townsite) to the collection.
The materials were donated to the Historical Society in 1975 when the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad closed its Topeka office. The collection was processed with the assistance of a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission. The following 168 pages of PDF files index the collection in more detail. There are no restrictions on access to the collection.
