Laura Lutz
Kansas Historical Foundation
Board of Directors
Elected to board: 2024
Laura Maag Lutz is director of government affairs for Evergy, the state’s largest electric utility, which serves more than 800,000 Kansans. She is grateful her work allows her the privilege of working part of the year in the state’s most beautiful building, the Kansas State Capitol. Lutz is a life-long Kansan, born in Dodge City and raised in Topeka. She is a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Journalism.
In addition to her nearly 18 years at Evergy (formerly Westar Energy), Lutz worked for 13 years at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka prior to her stint as editor of the Washburn Alumni Magazine. In addition to the Foundation, Lutz currently serves on the boards of the Kansas Chamber; the Shawnee Heights Public Schools Foundation; and the Scouting America Jayhawk Area Council.
She and her husband live south of Topeka, and have two grown children and a granddaughter, who they will ensure has all of the Kansas state symbols, including the state soil, memorized by the age of five.
