Museum After Hours

Museum After Hours (MAH) has changed days! You will now find us live on the second Friday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The programs are free.

Three options are available for viewing Museum After Hours programs live. Register to view the program on Zoom using the links below, watch on the Kansas Historical Society YouTube channel or attend in person at the Kansas Museum of History in Topeka. Past programs are archived on our YouTube channel.

Attend In-Person: Registration for the in-person Museum After Hours events is no longer required. The program will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. The museum will be open from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and admission is free. 

Watch Online: Can’t attend in-person? No worries! Everyone is welcome to register online at Webinar Registration - Zoom to watch the program on Zoom. Programs will also be available on the Kansas Historical Society YouTube channel.

January 9 – "Who was John Brown?" presented by Trae Johnson, assistant director of education and outreach at the Kansas Museum of History

February 13 – "A New Era of Hyer Boots" presented by Zach Lawless, CEO of Hyer Boots and a descendant of Charles Hyer, founder of Hyer Boots 

March 13  "Wall Walks: Insider Pool at National Geographic" presented by photographer Jim Richarson 

April 10 – "Life in Kansas During the Dust Bowl " presented by Katie Keckeisen, local history librarian at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library 

May 8 – “An Artist’s Perspective” presented by artist Stan Herd

June 12 – “From the Desk of William Allen White: What Can Journalists Today Learn from the Sage of Emporia?” - presented by a panel of journalists

July 10 – Chris Reimer, Land Institute

August 14 – Jancita Warrington, Haskell Arch

September 11 – "Riverine Dreams: Away to the Glorious and Forgotten Grassland Rivers of America" presented by George Frazier 

October 9 – Dave Kendall and Rex Buchanan, topic TBD but environment-related

November 13 – Michael Church, Samuel Reader wax cylinders

December 11 – TBA
