The musical history of Kansas is as rich and diverse as the different peoples and cultures who lived and worked here. Both permanent and temporary residents of Kansas of all eras have contributed to the creation of musical genres such as native, classical, folk, ragtime, blues, jazz, soul, religious, conjunto, mariachi, country and rock. The people of Kansas have played an important role in the development of a unique regional and national musical identity that is known around the world.
