- Member of the Shawnees
- Attended mission school, now Shawnee Indian Mission State Historic Site
- There she learned to sew, wash, and cook while boys worked in the shop and on the farm
- She married and lived in Johnson County, continuing her Shawnee traditions while also adopting those of the white society
