Don Chubb lives in Topeka. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. 

Chubb formerly operated Neon Tube Light and is a business broker and facilitates commercial real estate with Griffith and Blair, Inc. He serves on the boards of Security Benefit Mutual Funds and Kansas Innovations, Inc., and is a member of the committee to restore the historic Ritchie House in Topeka. He served as president of the Foundation of the Topeka Shawnee County Public Library, Historic Topeka, Native Sons and Daughters of Kansas, and Shawnee County Historical Society. He served as vice president for administration and president of the Jayhawk Council of the Boy Scouts of America, director of the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce, and co-chair of Topeka's sesquicentennial committee. 

He enjoys local and state history and works on the ongoing restoration of his home, Terrace Lake (the Anton-Woodring House), which is in the National Register of Historic Places. He has become a source for Topeka history, writing and co-producing weekly spots for television and radio spots.

Chubb has written several articles for the Shawnee County Historical Society’sBulletin. His stories of Topeka are popular speaker with civic organizations. He is a member of the Colorado State Historical Society; the Grand County (Colorado) Historical Society; Historic Kauffman House Society (Grand Lakes, Colorado); National Trust for Historic Preservation; and the Shawnee County Historical Society. He has been a deacon at Grace Episcopal Cathedral of Topeka for more than 30 years.

Chubb was first elected to the Kansas Historical Foundation Board of Directors in 2001 and served on the executive committee.
