Edward N. Tihen Publication Award

Special Collections and University Archives, Wichita State University Libraries The Edward N. Tihen Historical Publication Award promotes the publication of material on the history of Kansas by first-time authors. Applications maybe be submitted between January 1 and April 15 in odd years. The total amount available is $500.

Funding

Funds for the award are provided by the Tihen Endowment, established in 1995 by Dr. Tihen's family and friends in his memory and in appreciation of his role as an amateur historian.

Application and Evaluation Process

Books must contain substantial information on Kansas history. To be eligible, a book must have been published during the previous two calendar years. The author (or other party submitting a nomination) must include two copies of the book along with application affirming that the book is the author's first published historical work. Applicants will be notified of results after the committee reviews applications.
