On January 29, 2026, Kansas will celebrate its 165th birthday!  A variety of materials are available here to help make your Kansas Day unique and unforgettable.

Kansas Day at the Museum - Join us for an in-person Kansas Day celebration at the Kansas Museum of History! Enjoy live performances, hands-on demonstrations, make & take activities, and more! Kansas Day Edventure 2026 - A free virtual Kansas Day field trip. Enjoy a variety of presentations by Kansas Historical Society staff, and other organizations from around Kansas. Edventure at Wichita Public Schools offers both live and prerecorded Kansas Day programming for Kansas students everywhere. Kansas Museum of History staff will be presenting live programs on:

  • Kansas State Symbols, 9:30-10:00 a.m.
  • Famous Kansans, 10:30-11:00 a.m.

Kansas Day for Kansas Schools - This 1882 publication marks the start of the statewide Kansas Day celebration familiar to Kansans today. It provides information and exercises for use in every 1882 Kansas school on topics such as Kansas history, geography, poems, songs, and politics together with excerpts from the state constitution, a list of Kansas "firsts," and a history of the origin of Kansas Day.
