Lidia Hook-Gray was raised in the Oklahoma Panhandle, but has always considered Kansas her home, since it was just three miles from the Kansas border. She graduated from Turpin, Oklahoma and attended Seward County Community College, Liberal Area Vo-Tech, and the Real Estate Institute in Wichita. Licensed in 1984, she is broker/owner of Heritage Real Estate Group, Inc. in Liberal.
She is currently serving as secretary for Depot Heritage and the Seward County Historical Society. She also is a member of the Memorial Library Foundation and serves on the Liberal Parks and Recreation Board. She is past president of the Southwest Kansas Board of Realtors and the Noon Kiwanis.
In 2011 Hook-Gray authored Liberal and Seward County, an Images of American pictorial history book. Her historical interests include southwest Kansas trails, ghost towns, county seat wars, and women homesteaders. She is also an avid welder and gardener. She is the proud owner of a 1920 tin-clad grain elevator in Kismet and a 1906 downtown building in Liberal that has been restored and re-purposed into Lidia's real estate office. Her husband Wayne is in sales with KSCB Radio.
She was first elected to the Kansas Historical Foundation Board of Directors in 1996. She was elected to served on the executive committee in 2013.
